Australian Government Direct Aid Program (DAP)
Program Overview!
The Australian Government Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a flexible small grants initiative designed to support sustainable development projects worldwide. In India, the program operates through the Australian Consulate-General in Chennai, focusing on empowering local communities in South Indian states. DAP emphasizes fostering strong partnerships between Australia and India while addressing critical development challenges. By funding innovative, self-sustaining projects, DAP aims to create lasting impacts on marginalized groups and the environment.
The DAP invites high-quality project proposals that address pressing community needs in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry. Proposals should focus on areas such as women’s empowerment, minority inclusion, climate action, maritime security, community health, or education. Projects must be sustainable and demonstrate measurable impacts, with at least 90% of the grant directly benefiting target communities. Applicants are encouraged to include local contributions, either in cash or kind, and align with Australian standards for any construction-related projects.
Benefits:
The program offers grants of up to ₹10 lakhs for approved projects. At least 90% of the funds must be allocated to activities that directly benefit the target community. Partner organizations are expected to contribute to project costs, either in cash or kind. Branding and public acknowledgment of the Australian Government’s support are also provided.
