Global Undergraduate Exchange Program

Program Overview!
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, part of the U.S. Department of State, works to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other nations. By sponsoring academic exchange programs like UGRAD, the Bureau engages young leaders to address global challenges, foster community service, and support equality and peace. Through UGRAD, students around the world gain firsthand experience of the American education system and culture, enriching their academic journeys and opening paths for future opportunities.
The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) offers students worldwide a chance to study in the U.S. for one semester, immersing themselves in a different academic and cultural environment. This fully-funded program is designed to broaden students’ academic perspectives, improve their professional skills, and build strong global connections. Participants live with American citizens, participate in community service, and develop leadership skills that are essential for their future careers. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by World Learning, UGRAD aims to promote mutual understanding, global collaboration, and sustainable development worldwide.
